Brian and Erica Mohr

General Contractor and Builder

Calybr Homes, LLC has a foundation literally built on family values. Honesty, trust, confidence, integrity, and hard work. Brian Mohr is a second-generation homebuilder and married a girl whose mother was the first woman in Traverse City to get her builder’s license. Obviously, Erica and Brian Mohr were not only destined to be together but also destined to follow in the footsteps of their families.

Brian grew up in Marquette, MI. He spent his summers helping his dad, Cal Karr, on job sites and at the same time trying to learn a thing or two about building. Brian remembers, "I would go to the job sites and collect all the scrap wood. Then I would haul it all back to my house and carefully execute my plan to build my 4-story dream treehouse." After summers of hard work, and the completion of his treehouse, the fire was ignited.

When Brian graduated from high school his parents moved to Traverse City, MI. They ended up building their dream home right next to Erica’s mom, Lynne Moon, and this is where their story began. Brian went off to get a business degree from the University of Utah and then took a job with Walsh Construction in Chicago, IL.

He spent the next 5 years as a project engineer and project manager on numerous multi-million dollar high-rise projects and heavy-highway construction throughout the Chicago area. Erica was also living in Chicago at the time, but they got together more often with their two families than just the two of them alone.

In 2005 Brian moved back to Traverse City and follow his lifelong dream of being a custom home builder. Brian became partners with Erica’s mom, Lynne Moon, on the Lone Tree Cottages' development as well as launched Calybr Homes, LLC. Calybr literally and figuratively stands for family, as the initials are CA, LYnne, and BRian. The driving force behind Calybr Homes is truly "Building family dreams, one custom home at a time," which has since become the company's slogan.

A year later, Erica came home for a visit from Chicago and rediscovered the "boy next door." Even though Brian wasn’t living at his parent’s house (thank goodness) Erica’s parents were still living directly next to Brian’s parents. Over a casual family dinner, sparks began to fly. Erica and Brain were married in 2007 and two children came along shortly thereafter.

Erica is a salesperson for a pharmacogenetic lab company that covers parts of Northern Michigan. She is also heavily involved with Calybr Homes, LLC with the design as well as the marketing. Erica helps to bring the client's vision into every aspect of the house.

Together Erica and Brian are Calybr Homes, LLC. The two of them truly understand family and family needs. They believe it is the greatest gift to be able to give someone their "dream home." They believe the process should be exciting, fun, creative, enjoyable, and memorable.
